Exporting a Backup to Azure Blob

Before you can upload data to an Azure Blob, you must:

    • Create the blob container to store your data. For more information on how to create a blob container, click here
    • Create a new Azure Blob Endpoint in the application.
NOTE: We are not responsible for data exported from the application to external storage. We cannot be held responsible for the security, privacy or protection of data in any external storage. You are responsible for your Snowflake Data Warehouse Account security and privacy. We are unable to check that it is secure.

Export a Full Backup Azure Blob

    3. Navigate to the specific backup (date) that you wish to export.

    1. In the summary page of the specific date's backup, click Export.

    1. In the Select Endpoint drop-down list, select the Azure Endpoint option that you want for this export.

    1. Select whether to export All or Specific objects.
    2. If you selected Specific objects, select the objects you wish to export.
    3. If you wish to include attachments, check the Include attachments checkbox.

    1. If you selected an unsecured Azure Blob container, then a warning message displays.

    1. If you wish to proceed with the export, click Yes, export. The export starts a new job.

    1. When the export job is complete, the screen will display a confirmation that the Backup Export job has successfully completed, along with a summary of the backup (number of records, etc.)

    1. Check your Azure Blob for the exported files.

    1. The export creates a folder with the backup name under the path provided. The GZIP file created for each object is a zipped CSV file. The export uploads the files to this folder, if a file was previously uploaded (same backup, same object) the file is overwritten.

To keep all historic versions of the object, enable versioning on the bucket.

    1. If you have not set up the Azure Blob with the necessary permissions, an error message is displayed when you click Export.

    • Click here to see a list of the objects that are excluded from the data export.
